CALGARY,Alberta & VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Attabotics, the 3Drobotics supply chain company, and FoodX Technologies, one of the leading end-to-end eGrocery Management Solutions (eGMS) for profitable online grocery fulfillment, today announced a North American joint market offering. The scalable offering will provide retailers of all sizes with a turn-key, highly flexible solution for automated micro-fulfillment of fresh food. By combining Attabotics’ robotics fulfillment system with the proven FoodX eGrocery software platform for front-end e-commerce, delivery routing, inventory management, fulfillment and reverse logistics, retailers can improve unit economics, increase speed to market and reduce capital expenditure when compared to other end-to-end solutions currently on the market.
Requiring upwards of 85% less space than typical fulfillment warehouses, Attabotics is an entirely new way to store and pick goods in warehouses that is tailor-made to help retailers to respond to changing e-commerce demands and empower brands. The company transforms the rows and aisles of a typical warehouse into a single, vertical storage structure that’s modular and scalable, and uses “3D”robots internally to store and retrieve items for box packers on the outside perimeter.
FoodX Technologies, which has partnered with Carrefour Group and recently announced its entry into the U.S. market, provides a tailored, end-to-end solution for fresh food that vastly improves online grocery margins, and increases the productivity of retailers’ e-commerce operations. The software based eGMS platform can be scaled to work for any size retailer and can deploy in the back of a store, within a dark-store and now in a micro-fulfillment center with Attabotics. Combining the FoodX eGMS offering with the cutting edge automation delivered by Attabotics is truly state of the art.
The joint Attabotics and FoodX offering and the deployment of micro-fulfillment solutions for eGrocery will use Microsoft Azure Private Edge Zones, Azure Stack Edge and Azure Sphere. They will also use Azure Data & AI to unlock insights across the digital supply chain.
The Network Supply Chain model will also integrate into Microsoft's on-premises hybrid-cloud Azure Stack Edge, which powers both the operational Nexus and robotics via integrated LTE/5G wireless communications.
“The FoodX software platform is the ideal partner for Attabotics and its hardware,” said Scott Gravelle, Attabotics Founder, CEO and CTO. “The ability to save retailers time and money is more important than ever, and that’s why we’ve centered this partnership on the ability to offer the best-in-class unit economics for grocery e-commerce.”
“There is immense opportunity to bolster efficiencies and profitability in the grocery sector, and we are always testing new technologies to benefit retailers,” said FoodX Technologies CEO Peter van Stolk. “In pairing our end-to-end software with Attabotics’ revolutionary technology, we alleviate age-old logistical challenges faced by retailers with 21st Century solutions, while also adapting to today’s shifting consumer behavior that demands speed and absolute convenience.”
“We’re pleased to work with Attabotics and FoodX Technologies to enable online grocery fulfillment via a distributed micro-fulfillment and simplified last-mile logistics provider,” said Ravi Krishnaswamy, corporate vice president Microsoft Azure Commercial Industry group. “Azure, combined with our partner ecosystem, unlocks new solutions for the challenges that supply chain systems face today.”
SinceCOVID-19 was declared a pandemic in March, the grocery e-commerce market has witnessed explosive growth and is projected to continue on an upward path. Attabotics and FoodX can tailor the combined solution as retailer and consumer expectations shift, and have the ability to convert old retail spaces, warehouses, and malls into micro-fulfillment centers. Retailers can place condensed fulfillment centers closer to major cities and the end customer, reducing the damaging carbon output from last-mile delivery, and accelerating delivery times.
Attaboticsis the world’s first 3D robotics supply chain system for modern commerce. Inspired by the framework of ant colonies, Attabotics replaces the rows and aisles of traditional fulfillment centers with a patented storage structure and robotics shuttles that utilize both horizontal and vertical space, reducing a company’s warehouse needs by 85%. By empowering retailers to place fulfillment centers near high-density urban areas, Attabotics helps create jobs and decrease carbon emissions by closing the last-mile delivery gap. Attabotics has been adopted by major brands including luxury department store Nordstrom, and other retailers across apparel, food & beverage, and home goods. Attabotics is based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, with fulfillment centers across the United States and Canada.
